Bone Folder (Joann Fabric)
One inch brush for glue
Metal ruler
Cutting mat
Utility or X-acto knife
Hammer

If you don't have some of these items, there will be plenty to share.

COVER CLOTH AND PAPERS
Part of the fun is choosing your own cover materials, so we are asking you to bring a 12X12 piece of decorative paper for your cover, and 1/4 yard of fabric for your bookcloth. You also will need two 12X12 pieces for the flyleaves (card stock weight works best), or we will have flyleaf paper available to purchase. You can find paper anywhere scrapbooking supplies are sold. Mixing and matching colors and patterns makes your book look creative and personal.

SUPPLIES FOR WATERCOLOR JOURNALING
Small Travel Palette filled with your favorite colors
Brush - one watercolor round #8
Black fine-tipped permanent marker such as a Pigma Micron or Gelly Roll (not a Sharpie)
Small covered container for water
#2 pencil (this is a regular, everyday pencil)
A soft eraser

Watercolor Classes & Workshops

MATERIALS

PAINTS - these are the colors I will be using to teach color mixing:
Ultramarine blue
Permanent rose
Cadmium Yellow Light or New Gamboge
Sap or Hookers Green or Winsor Green Yellow Shade
The brand of paints you buy will make a difference in your color mixing and in the permanency of your painting. I suggest Winsor & Newton (NOT their Cotman brand) and Holbein.

BRUSHES 1" flat (optional)
Round #3, #8, and #12

PALETTE a covered plastic palette with a good sized mixing area.

PAPER I recommend Arches 140 cold press, and will make it available to the class for $5.00 per sheet (22"X30"), or you can purchase your own "watercolor block", again I recommend Arches 140 cold press. It is a good paper and will give you a good feel for what watercolor is supposed to do. If you practice on anything less, you won't get the same control.

WATER CONTAINER a plastic container that holds about 2 cups of water. Cool Whip or sherbet containers work well.

SPONGE a household sponge

A NUMBER 2 PENCIL AND A SOFT ERASER

A LIGHT WEIGHT STOOL OR BEACH CHAIR (for summer classes)

Kit Carson paint store in Petoskey carries these art supplies, and they will give you a discount if you mention you are taking my class.

Supplies may also be purchased from Cheap Joe’s Art Stuff or Daniel Smith, both reasonably priced mail order sources (catalogs and internet).

Watercolor Sketchbook Journal Supplies

A small covered palette

#8 round watercolor brush

Your favorite assortment of watercolor paints, or Alizarin Crimson, Hookers Green, Cadmium Yellow light, Untramarine Blue, and Burnt Sienna.

A black, fine tipped permanent pen, such as Pigma Micron, Pitt, or Gelly Roll Archival (I have found these at Jo-Ann Fabrics)
NOT a Sharpie

A small water container with a lid - such as a "tupperware" container

A #2 pencil - this can be just a regular #2 "office" pencil

A soft eraser

A small sponge

A light weight folding chair or camp stool

Insect repellent, sun screen, and a hat are nice to have with you sometimes.

I will have Aquabee watercolor sketchbooks available to purchase at the first class.

Supplies for Basic Drawing Class

An all purpose sketchbook - about 9X12, with 60lb paper or heavier.

One each 2B and 6B drawing pencils, or a boxed set of soft drawing pencils in the "B" range

A drawing pen, such as a Pigma Micron or Pitt Artist's Pen

A soft eraser

A light weight stool for summer drawing classes

Supplies for Multi-media Drawing Class

9 X 12 or larger sketchbook - about 65lb paper

2B and 6B drawing pencils or a boxed set of soft drawing pencils (in the "B" range)

A soft eraser

Medium sticks of vine charcoal

A drawing pen - Pigma Micron, Pitt Artist Pen, or any drawing pen you may already be using.

Any other drawing materials you'd like to try - brush pens, colored pencils, water-soluble graphite . . .

Lightweight folding chair or stool (for summer drawing out on location)
